Istanbul Highlights

09:00 Departure by coach. Visit the Topkapi Palace which was the royal residence of the Ottoman Sultans more than 400 years. Visits include the Harem and the Treasury Sections. Then walk into the Saint Sophia Church Museum which was the largest Church of the East Roman Empire, then converted into a mosque during the Ottoman era, now serves as a museum for visitors from all over the world. After having our lunch continue to Grand Bazaar.

Byzantine Secrets

Departure from the hotel, cross the Ataturk Bridge on Golden Horn and drive along the City Walls dating back to the 5th.century AD. built by Theodosius II... Visit the Fener Roman Orthodox Patriarchate. Then visit the Chora Church, a 14th century Byzantine church which had been converted into a mosque in the 15th. century, famous for finest example of Byzantine mosaics decorating the ceiling and the walls with scenes taken from the old and the New Testaments. Take a stroll through the typical Turkish neighbor-hood around the church. Continue visiting St.Sergius & Bacchus Church.
Lunch at a local restaurant
after lunch continue visiting the Underground Cistern Basilica which served as the water reservoir of the city both during the Byzantine and the Ottoman Empires
Return to hotel

There are taxis available at the airports. Taxis from Ataturk Airport cost around 45-50 TL to Sultanahmet and around 50-60 TL to Beyoglu. Taxis from Sabiha Gokcen Airport cost around 90-100 TL to Sultanahmet and around 100-110 TL to Beyoglu. (All prices vary depending on time spent in traffic). If you would like to arrange an airport transfer (for example if you are arriving in a group) please contact Oasis directly.

Transfers costs are around €75 up to 8 people. There are also buses operated by a company called Havatas which costs approximately €5 per person.
Depending on traffic (which can be heavy during morning and evening rush hour), it may take up to 1 hour to travel to Sultanahmet and up to 2 hours to Beyoglu from Ataturk Airport. It may add an extra hour to your journey if you are arriving at Sabiha Gokcen airport. Please factor in travel time when planning your arrival & departure.
